You can call me Nebula. I’m a technical communicator living in Northern California, USA. Like many Californians, I moved here from “back East” during the 1990s. I like the combination of nearby spectacular scenery, abundant local produce, and low humidity.
I recently bought my first house, the maintenance and improvement of which have inevitably become my biggest hobby. I hope to reach a point — sooner rather than later — where my other various interests hold more sway in my life.

I write like the technical writer that I am. It’s a profession with the imperative:
Be clear and concise.
This means to convey knowledge and ideas in a way that’s simultaneously as understandable, as complete, and as brief as possible. (Yeah, these are conflicting goals, and they’re equally important.) I tend to follow the principles of technical writing automatically, but I’m trying to inject a more conversational tone into this blog, dontcha know.
I know a few jokes. To save time, here are the punch lines:
• Five — one to hold the bulb, and four to turn the ladder.
• How he got into my pajamas, I’ll never know!
• Because of the footprints in the butter.
• Orange you glad I didn’t say banana?
• Twenty bucks, same as in town!
